Our goal is to show you the major sights and take you where you’d like to go on your own, but don’t have the access or opportunity to plan yourself: behind the scenes, to private homes and traditional villages, local schools, off the beaten path. Each of our tours is custom-designed specifically for small groups, with a balanced mix of traveling, sightseeing, and cultural encounters. We make sure we set aside time for you to explore on your own or simply to relax. With Odysseys Unlimited you’re assured of seeing the highlights – and also the unexpected. And because we generally spend at least two nights in most places and in some cases as many as four, you won’t be run ragged by changing hotels every day.
In addition to the freedom, flexibility, and camaraderie that our small groups engender, you’ll enjoy more personal, authentic encounters while traveling. Rather than descending en masse upon an ancient ruin or provincial village, we make a minimum of impact – so we have maximum opportunity for enjoyment, and for responsible travel.
Indeed, some of our tours can be offered only to small groups, such as Paradores & Pousadas, which visits the intimate historic lodgings of Spain and Portugal. Many of our tours include visits with local families in their homes or villages, and excursions to schools and marketplaces. Our small group tours include a great deal of thoughtful and engaging sightseeing and activities, from museum tours, rainforest walks, and scenic excursions to home visits, cultural performances, and wine tastings. In major cities there’s usually free time to explore on your own after a guided city tour. As you’ll see on the following pages, we include all the highlights, and much more. And unlike with many other travel companies, our tour directors will not pressure you to buy optional tours at additional cost. They will, however, offer suggestions for your free time if requested.
