Did anyone have an opportunity to ride a camel? I know it's rather "touristy" but I want to do it anyway!
Nancy, I went on the Egypt and the Eternal Nile tour in November and did indeed ride a camel. Twice. The first time was at the pyramids where it's the photo op thing to do. The second time was at Wadi El Seboua where it really was the best way to get from Point A to Point B. You should do it. It's an interesting experience. They are not nasty, they do not spit and they don't smell any different from any other farm animal. You should also do the sunrise balloon ride. It's not cheap, but it was worth every penny! I have been on the Odyssey's Egypt trip twice! I have loved it both times. The tour guides are the best, the accomodations fine, the food good. I hope to return at least one more time. We had a few weather-related problems and they were handled efficiently and handily. I have travelled many times with Odysseys, and have loved every one.
Going on the Egypt trip in January. Any suggestions on what to wear in Cairo when going out to restaurants (up-scale). Don't want to offend through inappropriate dress - but, expect that many of the restaurants/nightlife are typical of any cosmopolitan city. Just for reference - my good years are behind me (age 63!) but looking forward to a wonderful experience).
