Karen Zuniga was born, raised, and continues to live in Bogotá, Colombia’s capital and largest city. She takes pride in her homeland, and delights in sharing its treasures with her guests: “I love showing the different aspects of our culture — what we eat, the way we dance, and how we live here in Colombia.”
“Karen was certainly one of the best guides that we have had in 24 Odysseys trips. Perhaps the best. Great sense of humor, extremely knowledgeable and attentive.”

Karen has been leading Odysseys guests through Colombia since 2017 and continues to do so on our revamped Jewels of Colombia itinerary, a small group exploration of Bogotá, Medellin, and Cartagena. With deep local knowledge and boundless enthusiasm, Karen provides an insider’s perspective on her home country — but her favorite spot is a well-known one: “I love the Gold Museum in Bogotá, as it is the best collection of pre-Columbian pieces in the world. Our way of life is a mixture of African, European, and Native American cultures and at the Gold Museum, this last one is amazingly portrayed.”
When she’s not leading tours, Karen loves spending time with her baby daughter, exploring Colombia’s mountains, traveling abroad, dancing, and reading.
