Before our Journey through Britain tour wraps up in London, we spend two nights in the delightful city of Bath, England. Our home base for exploring this ancient Roman wellness retreat is the Francis Hotel Bath, which occupies a series of seven original 18th-century townhouses along historic Queen Square. This square is designated as a Grade I-listed site by the British Crown, designating our hotel as a site of exceptional architectural significance.

Queen Square itself was designed in the Georgian style by architect John Wood the Elder in the early 18th century, and it wraps around its namesake park, comprising the first portion of Bath’s celebrated architectural sequence, which also includes the Circus and Royal Crescent just a short distance away. This lovely edifice sits in the center of this walkable town, offering us two days of easy pedestrian exploration.
