Update regarding evolving situation in Iran and the Middle East

March 11, 2026

We are happy to report that all of our guests who had been traveling in Egypt or Jordan have now safely left the region. Many are back home in the United States, while several have continued their travels independently in Europe or elsewhere. We can also confirm that our Tour Directors and travel partners in both Egypt and Jordan are safe.

At this time, we have cancelled the remainder of our Egypt & the Eternal Nile tours through this spring, and look forward to resuming travel on this tour, as well as launching our new Exploring Jordan & Egypt tour, as scheduled this fall. As always, our guests’ safety and security and that of our Tour Directors and partners are our top priorities.

If you have any questions, please contact our Guest Services department at 888-370-6765.

March 4, 2026

Within 24 hours of the State Department’s advisory that U.S. citizens leave Egypt “via commercial means due to serious safety risks,” we effectively took significant actions to keep our guests’ safety and security at the forefront. At this point, we have evacuated all guests from Jordan, and have arranged to evacuate all remaining guests currently on the ground in Egypt, including returning guests to Cairo to position them to depart on flights back to the United States.

On the evening of March 3, the State Department updated their website to note that Egypt is now at a Level 2 Travel Advisory (Exercise Increased Caution). We remain committed to all the emergency actions that we have taken, with knowledge that the Department of State updates may fluctuate based on the chaotic environment.

As always, our guests’ safety and security and that of our Tour Directors and partners are our top priorities.

If you have any questions, please contact our Guest Services department at 888-370-6765.

March 3, 2026

Due to the rapidly escalating situation in the Middle East, the U.S. State Department has now issued an emergency advisory for several different countries, including Egypt and Jordan, advising U.S. citizens not to travel to this region given the heightened security risks. They are also urging U.S. citizens currently in Egypt and Jordan to depart immediately. Given this advisory, and in order to best ensure our guests’ safety, we have made the prudent decision to cancel the remainder of the Spring departures on our Egypt & the Eternal Nile tour, including the Jordan extension, through April of this year.

At this time, the situation is as follows:

  • We are actively assisting all guests currently traveling on Egypt & the Eternal Nile and the Jordan extension with safe return to the United States.
  • All guests booked on departures through April who have not departed the United States will have their tour canceled, and an Odysseys representative will be in touch with next steps.

Please know that these decisions were not made lightly since they impact not only our guests, but our Tour Directors and travel partners on site as well. Our guests’ safety and security and that of our Tour Directors and partners are always our top priorities.

If you have any questions, please contact our Guest Services department at 888-370-6765.

We are monitoring the situation unfolding in Iran and throughout the Middle East and its impact on international travel to the region. We have remained in constant contact with our local travel partners and Tour Directors on the ground as they are our greatest asset in assessing the safety of travel as circumstances evolve. The safety and security of our guests in Egypt and Jordan and our on-site staff members are our highest priorities, and we have been in touch with those affected by these events. Travelers with questions can call our Guest Services department at 888-370-6765.
