Odysseys Insider: Favorite Museums

October 01, 2025

If you’re anything like us, one of the things that excites you most about travel is the opportunity to immerse yourself in different cultures around the world. That’s why most Odysseys itineraries include admission to world-class museums with exhibits showcasing local art, culture, history, industry, and natural beauty.

We asked five Odysseys Unlimited Travel Experts to reveal their favorite museum visited on tour with Odysseys. Scroll down to read what they had to say.

Conrad Mansion Museum | Canadian Rockies Explorer

Supervisor, Reservations & Customer Service

Kaylee says: “It was interesting visiting the Conrad Mansion Museum and seeing the home of a Montana Pioneer. I really loved the Victorian-style architecture. The gardens were also a huge part of why I loved this museum. The guided tour we did really transported us back to the late 1800s in the Pacific Northwest.”

The Egyptian Museum | Egypt & the Eternal Nile

Larissa D.
Manager, Guest Communications

Larissa says: “The iconic Egyptian Museum in Cairo, which we visit on Day 3, is one of my favorite museums I’ve visited on an Odysseys tour. It’s a treasure trove of artifacts, housing over 120,000 items that are rich in history. What truly made the visit special though, was our expert tour director’s detailed and engaging commentary, which brought ancient history to life. I could have happily spent all day there!”

Dove Cottage | Journey through Britain

Vinnie G.
Senior Manager, Special Interest Groups

Vinnie says: “Dove Cottage is more a living history museum than a conventional museum, where visitors can step back through a portal to a quaint, countryside cottage from the 17th century.  One can easily experience the tranquility of nature which helped English poet William Wordsworth launch the beginning of Romantic literature.  The rustic setting seems frozen in time.”

Claude Monet’s House and Gardens | Provincial French Countryside

Senior Copywriter, Marketing

Shelby says: “Monet has been one of my favorite artists since I was a little kid, so I was incredibly excited for the opportunity to see the gardens that inspired so many of his paintings on Provincial French Countryside. I had so much fun finding the vantage points that Monet might have used as reference to paint some of my favorite artworks. His home was super interesting as well, and I learned a lot about how passionate Monet was about Japan through the decoration and artwork on display in his home and studio.”

Grand-Pré National Historic Site | The Canadian Maritimes

Operations and Special Events Coordinator, Special Interest Groups

Christiane says: “Grand-Pré National Historic Site is a very special place we visited in Nova Scotia offering deep insight into the ingenuity and resilience of the Acadians, who developed an elaborate system of dikes and sluices to reclaim fertile farmland from the powerful tides of the Bay of Fundy. This innovative approach allowed them to transform marshlands into productive agricultural land, supporting a thriving and vibrant community. Sadly, this prosperity was disrupted by the forced deportation of thousands of Acadians during the Grand Dérangement (which uprooted entire communities and tore families apart during the Seven Years’ War between France and Great Britain from 1755–1763). The staff on site was very warm and welcoming of our group and proud of their Acadian heritage, which added a deeply personal layer to the experience.”

The museums listed here are just the tip of the iceberg. We also visit the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology, final resting place of 5,300-year-old mummy Ötzi the Iceman, on Northern Italy; the newly opened Grand Egyptian Museum, home to over 100,000 artifacts spanning every era of Ancient Egyptian history, on Egypt & the Eternal Nile; and the Rafael Larco Herrera Archaeological Museum, boasting one of the most extensive collections of pre-Columbian ceramics, on Treasures of Peru, among countless others.
