A tour director for more than 20 years – going on nine with Odysseys – Rie Oka (“Oka”) can’t think of any other job she’d rather have. “I love meeting people from around the world and being able to introduce Japan to them,” she says.
On tour, Oka especially enjoys engaging her Odysseys guests in hands-on experiences, such as the traditional tea ceremony, market excursion, and cooking class. “I also like my guests to have opportunities to engage with local people,” she adds.
“OKA WAS MARVELOUS.PAUL & KATHY SCHWARTZ
SHE EXCEEDED ALL EXPECTATIONS.”
A native of Nagoya, Oka now lives in Tokyo where in her free time she likes to cook traditional Japanese cuisine and to visit contemporary art museums.
